Dhaka, 19 Jan, Abnews: Authorities fo Dhaka University have filed a case against 50 unknown persons for vandalising the gate of the proctor’s office during protests against alleged attack by Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders.
A case was filed in this regard on Thursday night, said Abul Hasan Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station.
A group of Dhaka University students have been demonstrating with demands to cut the affiliation with the seven government colleges in the capital.
Leaders of the BCL’s DU unit pulled the student who was coordinating the protests against the university’s affiliation with the colleges, inside the VC’s office on Monday during protests.
However, the protesting students alleged the BCL leaders also assaulted the female students demonstrating in front of the VC’s office.
As a result, the protestors on Wednesday besieged the proctor in his office and tore down the collapsible gate of the building after the authorities locked it.
