Dhaka, 18 April, Abnews: Authorities of Dhaka University (DU) today withdrew the expulsion order on Iffat Jahan Isha, Dhaka University's Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall unit president of Bangladesh Chhatra League.
The disciplinary board of the university has taken the decision following a probe report, said DU Proctor Prof Dr AKM Golam Rabbani.
The five-member probe committee formed to investigate the attack on female students at the hall found that the allegation of cutting tendon of a student is baseless, the proctor said.
Earlier on April 13, making a U-turn, the BCL reinstated Iffat as the president of Dhaka University's Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall unit just 48 hours after expelling her from the organisation, who allegedly assaulted three female students for taking part in demonstrations for quota reform.
On April 11, Dhaka University authorities and BCL expelled Iffat Jahan Isha after allegations of torturing a student arose against her.
Some BCL leaders and activists led by the hall unit president allegedly swooped on the general residents of the hall early Wednesday, leaving Morsheda Akhter, a 4th year student of Botany Department, critically injured.
They beat up Morsheda mercilessly as she had taken part in staging demonstrations demanding quota reform, witnesses said.
Hearing her screams, the other students of the dormitory rushed in and confined Isha. Later, they handed Isha over to the hall provost after a good beating.
