Dhaka, 29 April, Abnews: Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on Saturday suspended operations of all types of water vessels across the country due to bad weather, UNB reports.
Alamgir Kabir, joint director of BIWTA, said the authorities concerned suspended the plying of launches, ferries and speedboats across the country around 12pm.
All passenger launches on 41 routes have remained halted. The suspension will remain until the situation improves, he added.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s latest forecast said rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Sylhet division and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions in the next 24 hours till 6:00 am Monday.
