Dhaka, 13 August, Abnews: The cabinet today approved in principle the draft of a law to recognise Dawrae Hadith (Takmil) Certificate of Qawmi Madrasas as the status of the post-graduate degrees of Islamic studies and Arabic aiming to bring the students of the country’s Qawmi Madrasas into the mainstream.
The approval came at the regular cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat after the meeting.
He said the proposed law titled, ‘Giving Dawrae Hadith (Takmil) Certificate in Qawmi Madrasa as equivalent to Master’s Degree (Islamic Studies and Arabic)’ is going to be framed to bring the students of the country’s Qawmi Madrasas into the mainstream.
The Cabinet Secretary said the proposed law was designed on the basis of a gazette notification of the Education Ministry published on April 13, 2017, recognising the Dawrae Hadith degrees as the status of master’s degrees (Islamic Studies and Arabic). - BSS
